Prosperity

Prosperity is often said to be directly related to the amount of money one has. The fatter our bank account, the more prosperous we are. The less we have, the less prosperous we are. In fact, even the dictionary supports this notion. Prosperity is described as an economic state and being related to good fortune.

But the truth is this - the dictionary is inaccurate. Prosperity, yes, has a lot to do with money. in fact, the more money you have, the more prosperous you may feel. But we say....prosperity is a feeling. Yes, prosperity is a feeling. No matter how much money we have, as long as we appreciate whatever little (or a lot) that we have, we will emanate a feeling of power, control and self-respect. A man with only $2 in his pocket can command a lot of respect if he carries himself well, believes in himself and appreciate the precious $2 in his pocket.

While it's extremely easy to look up to people with lots of money, people driving fast cars and living in large houses, we can do a lot more than ogle their money and status. We should not feel inferior or feel in any way challenged to be thankful for what little that we have. Prosperity, like we said, is not always about money and finances. Because, look at this statement carefully..... "No matter how much money we have, be it $100, $5 or $125,635,578.65, it will never be enough. Never!".

The more money we have, the more ways we will find to spend it. The higher up our social status, the more obligations and financial burden we will carry with us. Therefore, linking prosperity to financial status is not entirely fair or accurate. On the other hand, let's take a look at people without as much money as millionaires. They have less money, sure, and life is hard, definitely. But they have less money and therefore, they find it easier to thank God for all that has been given to them. Every grain of rice and loaf of bread is appreciated. And only when we start appreciating what life has given us will we ever begin to prosper.

It is through this appreciation and thankfulness (not to be confused with complacency) that doors to prosperity open. It is when these doors open that we find it possible to make more money and enjoy them. How can someone who does NOT enjoy or have no time to enjoy his or her own money ever appreciate the money spent? If he or she cannot appreciate the money that he or she has in his bank account, they will not be so bold to enter into promising enterprises and business ventures. Hence, limiting their chances of prospering.

However, we're not saying that only poor people can ever find prosperity. It's also possible for wealthy people to KEEP their prosperity. The difference is how they find information, filter them and use them.

Appreciation is the doorway to opportunity as well as the doorway to financial gain. When we learn to appreciate what we have, no matter how much or how little, we will be able to move along the path to more promising things.
